You, like 4.4 million Americans could be struggling with a Mental Illness. ​And unlike the common cold getting treatment is not that easy. There are therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists and even counselors who are all Mental Health Care professionals. And they all play many roles in getting adequate treatment.

Today, I cried harder than I ever had since he told me. For some reason, it felt like I would be able to just hop onto my computer write some amazing things to say and walk around feeling great. I was wrong. The fact that I was even considering making myself emotionally unavailable for the next year brought me to tears. The saddest thing is I’m not ready to let go of him. I want my memories to remain fresh. I want to laugh when I think about him. I want to smile when I see his picture. I want to carry on the happily ever after I created inside my mind.

Mommy, I Didn't Know You Were Depressed

“Mommy, I didn’t know you were depressed”, were the words my daughter spoke one morning as we prepared for the first day of school back in 2018. It was in that moment I realized she saw the mood magnet on the refrigerator. I had forgotten to change it. You see, I promised myself to be honest about my emotions every day. For me, this meant going to the refrigerator to adjust the magnet accordingly. However, I established one exception. Whenever my daughter was present, I would lie.
