QUEEN  AMUNET

Healing Black Women Contributor

Zarion Newbill, born in Hawkinsville, Ga raised in Macon, Ga where she attended a variation of both private Christian school and public schools. Zarion holds an Associate Degree in Marketing Management, Bachelors Degree in Psychology. Zarion is an advocate for all transgender women but especially for Trans women of Color. Zarion is an advocate for Transgender women because of the personal experience that goes along with trying to navigate at a young age about discovering the proper gender identification and not knowing how to properly navigate through that process. In 2016 when Zarion started her own transition she attended support groups and could hear and understand the disparities that came with being a Trans woman of Color. That’s when Zarion started the NOMO Organization which stands for Navigating Omitted Minds Overtime, the primary focus is getting transgender students that aspire to go to college off to college with a scholarship from a transgender person that understands the struggle of wanting to just be. Zarion’s mission statement for NOMO is to Embrace and Empower Transwomen of Color in their healing as they embrace their purpose in the world.

Some of the events that Zarion brought trans issues to the forefront were: Trans Day of Visibility at Pandora Radio Headquarters 2019 Atlanta, Ga; Project Red Paint World Aids Day Extravaganza 2018 Atlanta, Ga; Trans Entertainment Radio Co-Host 2018 Ellenwood, Ga; World Aids Day Vendor to represent Transgender Women of Color 2018 Macon, Ga; Project Red Paint World Aids Day Campaign 2018 Atlanta, Ga; It’s All About Hugs on Valentines Day 2018 Atlanta, Ga; Women's Wellness Expo April 2019 in Macon, Ga; Benefit for Education June 2019 in Atlanta, Ga; You’re Such a Boss Lady Do Better Sis! Conference in 2019, Macon, Ga; Ridealong Live Radio show September 2019 New York and Jamaica via Satellite radio; Brown Butterflies Speakers Symposium September 2019 at Georgia State University, Atlanta, Ga; Zarion became a Contributor on Healing Black Women on Instagram in October 2019; Spoke at Fulton County Board of Health Trans Vigil and Listening Session November 2019 Atlanta, Ga; Zarion was noted in the TIME photograph December 2019, Atlanta, Ga; #Ismile Campaign December 2019 Atlanta, Ga.

As you can see as the founder of NOMO, Zarion is always busy making sure the advancements of Trans women of Color are at the forefront of what NOMO Organization represents. Zarion is taking on her next challenge which is being the First Black Trans led Support Group in the Macon/Middle Georgia area and to integrate the Public School system in that area with Trans Inclusivity in the Classroom setting. This is a monumental moment for Zarion and her dream of brining Trans visibility and Awareness to this area.

Zarion believes that being able to selfishly respect yourself is why many people have issues with the transgender community, but with that transgender people have a responsibility to be even more transparent to bring more awareness and understanding to other people near and far.
