Mirralle Bennett, MHRMSelf-Care & Wellness Associate As I set out and plan for the year this year like last year I used the Year Compass booklet, I prefer this to a Vision board, it gives space to reflect on the past year, and account for the journey, growth, lessons, decisions, risks, all the moments that made the year. It helped me create the most intentional year. Going into 2023, my word is commitment, starting off with being more committed to my self care routine. First always start the year with rest, be intentional with your rest, try to get 8 hours of sleep, set a bed time routine. With all the festivities from the holidays it’s easy to let sleep get away from us. The first few weeks of the Month I like to think of them as practice, just like back in the day when your parents would have you practice for the first day of school going to bed early. Set my bed time and plan for the next day. Second decluttering, clearing out the old to make space for the new. The new year is a great time to let go of anything that no longer serves. Third Enjoy more of what you love, one of my main goals in sticking to commitment is to do more of the things that make me feel joy and be present in the moment. Taking the time to enjoy the small milestones, rather than focusing on the next goal. Fourth setting boundaries, as I reflect on the last 4 months of the year and where I got off track, it was due to my lack of boundaries. Fifth and final self care tip for starting the new year is to replenish my body, drinking more water, getting more greens and fresh air, making it a daily habit. Always remember “It’s not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself, and make your happiness a priority. It’s necessary” - Mandy Hale Let me know in the comments below what you will be doing this year to feel recharged.
