Two Words: Mars Retrograde. Have you been feeling simmering anger? Low energy? Feeling disconnected from your environment and your passions? Have you been experiencing lack of sex drive or intimacy between you and your partner(s)? Let me guess have you started to question your relationships, your connection to your jobs/careers and just what are you doing in general right now?
Let me splain, Lucy! Mars is one hot headed planet which is represented in its’ color—fire red and orange. Mars is incredibly close to earth. During any retrograde period, the planet slows down. Chile listen, when Mars slows down you will start to feel a little bit out of control of your primal emotions-anger, desire, sex, ego. Shall we say “temper, temper”.

Mars goes into retrograde every 26 months. Get ready for this gem I’m going to lay on you next;  Mars will remain in retrograde from September 8th to November 19th 2020. TWO WHOLE MONTHS of potential drama, chaos and just feeling blah. This pairing is particularly complicated for POC/Black Americans in this climate due to us being in the greatest racial uprising revolution of this decade. Let’s not leave out this one—staying COVID free.  I can graciously speak for the collective by saying--We are TIRED. The last thing we want to do is fight this fiery planetary energy. Soundtrack of the moment--Knuck If You Buck.

For me, the last 7.5 months have been something for the books. I have literally gone into the depths of my soul that I did not know I had buried away. I’ve been able to rebuild relationships that I was okay with being distant with. I have also created distance and boundaries around certain energies that I do not find to be particular healthy for my growth. All while, establishing the deepest self-love I’ve ever felt in 38.3 years. Now here comes, Mars and all their drama (insert laugh track).

Here's a few tips to ensure you make it to the other side of Mars and all its’ commotion. For me, I use these techniques daily. These tips help me maintain my highest brightest Nubian goddess.
We’ve all heard this one before but there is one major key. SELF-CARE. It’s vital for you to put YOURSELF first during the remainder of this period (Major life key-always put you first however). A few things you can do if you don’t already have these tools:

  • Journal/Script-Write out your dreams, desires and manifestations DAILY (this part is very important as you have to remind the universe every single day of what you deserve).
  • Practicing grounding techniques- such as walking barefoot in grass, sand or on ground. Try just laying down on the ground, grass or sand with no mat or towel (pending no allergies). Grounding techniques serves to ensure that you can remain balanced. Keeping those emotions in check as you communicate with the earth who will always support you. Hence, the term-“ten toes down”.
  • Next, manage that time! Ensure that you are making structured to-do list. Use those planners, digital planners such as google calendar and never forget good ol’ sticky notes.
  • Lastly, just breathe. Breathe work is very important and underrated. Breathe in through your nose for 5 seconds—hold--release the breath through your mouth for 5 seconds—repeat up to 10 times.
Reminder, we are all that we got. We got this. See you on the other side.
