However, when a seed is planted and has had time to receive some ‘TLC’, it’ll still grow even after you’ve turned your back on it. So my inner femininity seed sprouted and the desire to continue that journey resumed. Only this time, it would be different. I decided to approach this the same way I coach others.
First step, define femininity for myself: what does it mean to be a feminine? I didn’t come up with a specific definition for it yet, but a few key words come to spirit when I think of femininity: Self-love, elegance, radiance, self-care, silky smooth, mystery, mystical, smelling & feeling delicious, creativity, nurture, sensuality, patience, delicate, humility, finesse, beauty, luxury, royalty, pleasure, to exude confidence, feeling sexy, being desirable, orgasmic, vibrancy, centered, grounded, earth, warmth, receptivity, flowers, delicate, freshness, inner strength, authority, emotional & subtle power, softness. ‘Soft’ is definitely a key word for my definition of femininity. I always think of the power of softness and how to add more of it in my words, my gestures and my presence. Don’t get it twisted, to be ‘soft’ doesn’t mean to be weak. Here’s a quote I love that supports my theory, as told by Roxy Saffaie in her interview with Women of Impact: “There’s a difference between soft and fragile. Soft can take a blow, soft can take a punch. And, if anything, I feel it fortifies the strength because it can take the hit. Fragile can shatter by a pebble. I have a very soft heart, I’m very compassionate, I’m all love, and at the same time, my whole life, without ever having to prove anything, you know not to fuck with me.” To be soft, yet to have an inner strength and confidence born out of this softness. Take our skin for instance: when healthy it feels smooth and soft, and its softness doesn’t take away from it its strength, its elasticity, its ability to hold our organs, blood and bones wrapped up and protected from outside elements. So it’s from a standpoint of increasing the energy of softness, elegance, and all these other words into my life that I share with you a few things I do to add more feminine magic into my life in a holistic way, at least as far as my definition of it is concerned. I invite you to try whichever one of them that resonates with you. Nourishment Eating fresh foods straight from Mother Earth not only nourish our bodies, they cleanse them and build them into strong temples, allowing us to pursue our dreams and projects. Fruits, vegetables and herbs (and drinking clean water!) are to be consumed on a daily basis, preferably organic and local when possible, to ensure quality. Let me also say that practicing eating in silence once in a while is an underrated meditative practice. Taking our time to chew the food (our stomachs don’t have teeth!), to taste it and feel the texture of the different foods, and to do so in a spirit of gratitude for Mama Nature who provided this food for us, as well as all the loving hands who contributed to bringing the food to our table, is a way to practice the art of patience and gratefulness, as well as increasing the level of pleasure in our lives. Self-care There are countless ways to take care of our bodies in a more feminine way. One of my favorites is a goddess bath. For me, a goddess bath simply means taking luxurious care of ourselves, being ‘extra fancy’ with it! Here are a few ideas of what can be added in your bath water: coconut milk, rose petals, essential oils, bubbles, Epsom salt, honey, water-friendly crystals and semi-precious stones, honey, etc. On top of that, you can create a magical ambiance: light up some candles and incense, play your favorite relaxing music, have a good book to read or have your journal to write down thoughts and reflections that come to you while you bathe, have a glass of vino or a nice cup of tea. Whatever makes your experience feel more goddess-y works! Granted, sometimes we don’t have time to make an elaborate bath, but you can add a few self-care rituals into your daily life to help you feel more feminine: do a face mask with green clay, white clay, or honey, make a face scrub with brown sugar and coconut oil, slowly massage your skin when putting lotion and oils on your body, do a sea salt foot soak, perform a yoni steam and use a yoni egg to strengthen your womb, etc. Creativity Even though you can be creative with how you prepare your meals and your goddess baths, creativity can also be expressed in dancing, writing, drawing, painting, gardening, decorating, or doing makeup and beautiful hairdo’s that compliment your face. Creativity is a trait of the right side of the brain, the feminine side, so let it flow however it feels right and however it enhances your definition of femininity. Feel empowered by your femininity and the strength that resides in the softness of your feminine essence. Celebrate your feminine energy & power. Cultivate it and allow its light to radiate from within, helping you become more balanced, rooted, magnetic, magical, and whole. Joyfully, Caroline
