As Black History Month unfolds, it's imperative to celebrate the remarkable contributions of African-American inventors who have left an indelible mark on society. Monya Faye Pryor, a visionary Physical Therapist based in Hendersonville, Tennessee,
exemplifies this spirit of innovation with her groundbreaking invention, the PottyCap - A hands-free portable female urinal made specifically for women.
Pryor's recent milestone, securing a three-year exclusive agreement with Redhawk Medical, marks a significant step in extending the reach of her innovative product to those in need. The PottyCap has garnered widespread acclaim for its ability to provide convenience and comfort to women in various situations, both at home and on the go. Its recognition with the "Best New Product-Gold Award" at MedTrade underscores the impact of Pryor's invention in addressing the needs of women facing challenges related to restroom
accessibility and cleanliness.

Driven by a desire to empower women, Pryor explained, "I was determined to develop a solution that acknowledges the practical needs of women in situations where restroom facilities are limited or unsanitary." The PottyCap, designed as a portable urinal aid, offers a safe and hygienic alternative to conventional restroom experiences, promoting both convenience and eco-consciousness.

What sets Pryor's journey apart is her commitment to collaboration and education. Working closely with the Engineering and Physical Therapy departments at Tennessee State University, Pryor developed the first prototype of the PottyCap based on her design. This partnership underscores the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in transforming ideas into tangible solutions.

Pryor's dedication extends beyond product innovation. Through engaging presentations focused on bladder care and pelvic health, she raises awareness about these critical issues, emphasizing their impact on women's overall well-being. "I envision a future where the mention of female urinals immediately brings the PottyCap to mind," stated Pryor. "The PottyCap hands-free portable female urinal is poised to positively impact the lives of countless women, empowering them to take control of their bodies with comfort and convenience in various settings."

In honoring Pryor's achievements, we pay tribute to the legacy of African American inventors who have reshaped our world through innovation and determination. As we celebrate Black History Month, let us recognize and celebrate the diverse tapestry of stories that make up the African American experience, honoring the past while looking towards a future filled with promise and possibility.
