I’m pretty sure all of you reading this are aware that people, places and things give off certain vibes and I’m sure many of you can feel these vibes, whether good or bad, even if you can’t explain it.
Vibes is just an abbreviation of the word vibration and in this context that I’m using this, it is related to energy, so I thought it would make sense to provide a definition of both words before moving along with this blog:

  • Vibration – A person’s emotional state, the atmosphere of a place, or the associations of an object, as communicated to and felt by others (Oxford language definition).
  • Energy -
    • Physics - the capacity for doing work. It may exist in potential, kinetic, thermal, electrical, chemical, nuclear, or other various forms (Britanica definition).
    • Esotericism (spirituality) - refers to a widespread belief in an interpersonal, non-physical force or essence (Science Daily definition).
When considering our vibration and energy (in both scientific and esoteric terms) there is a constant theme, and that energy never dies but can be changed from one form to another and this includes its potential to become something when it is not being utilised.

Now back to the point of this blog; using our negative energy via physical activity to produce positivity energy.  Regular exercise has been proven to improve your energy levels, physically, mentally and spiritually:
  • Increased mood – exercise produces endorphins, and these are chemicals in the brain that reduce stress and induce a sense of wellbeing.  Participating in physical activity releases these and they can also help with pain relief.
  • Improved heart health – this means that you’ll have greater endurance to carry out all your day-to-day activities.  From a spiritual perspective, when your heart space is in a healthy state, it means you are in a better position to give and receive love.  Feeling healthier, automatically improves how you feel energetically.
  • Improved sleep – when you’re well rested, you automatically feel more refreshed and energised to face the day and all its activities as well as improving your mood and overall wellbeing.
  • Sharpened focus – physical activity has been proven to improve cognitive function, including concentration.  This would mean that you’d be in a better position to take on problem solving tasks with reduced stress levels due to mental clarity.
  • Weight/physical maintenance – exercising improves muscle, joint and bone health as well as your overall physiological health.  It can also help you maintain or reach an optimum weight range the individual.  The healthier you feel, you're more likely to be in a state of positive energy.
  • Improved immune system/health - regular exercise can prevent and improve various health conditions (physical and mental).  When these are at a more optimal level, you naturally feel better overall.
  • Boost in confidence – feeling physically stronger, seeing an improvement in your mood and even seeing improvements in your physical and mental wellbeing will automatically have you in a more positive energetic state which naturally will make you feel more confident.
  • Improved sex life – an increase in physical stamina and confidence from engaging in physical activity can automatically improve one's sex life.  The improvement in intimacy can then improve elements of your personal life, improving your overall energy and wellbeing.
  • Improved social life – engaging in physical activity can be a social experience if you want it to be.  It can create a space to make meaningful connections and meet likeminded people providing positive energy exchanges.

As well as exercise helping us transmute negative energy into positive energy, it can also assist with the movement of stagnant energy.  This is that “stuck” energy you can often feel when life feels as if it isn’t moving, no matter what you do.  This can often physically, mentally and spiritually weigh you down, but exercise can help you to shift this energy, get it moving and change it from positive to negative.

Remember that negative energy can be changed to positive energy and vice versa, so be mindful of the energy you’re surrounding yourself in, whether it is yours or others.

Taj Watkins-Scott, BS

My name is Taja Watkins-Scott and professionally, I am a holistic bodywork therapist specializing in Swedish massage, sports massage and rehabilitation and acupuncture. I come from a sporting background both academically and physically and have participated in sport and fitness as far back as I can remember. In addition to bodywork, I also provide energy readings as a service. I would describe myself as a nurturer and spiritual being navigating the human experience of life and while on this journey, I am using my gifts to bring love, light and healing to as many people as I possibly can to raise the vibration of the world around us. I am a firm believer that our health should be considered holistically as every aspect of our lives; physically, spiritually and emotionally are all interconnected. I take this approach with my own life and treat my clients accordingly.
